Hoje conhecida como a deusa do amor e da beleza, Afrodite, ou Vênus como ela era conhecida pelos romanos, foi uma das mais poderosas e antigas divindades gregas e um tema favorito na arte antiga.

Através da apresentação de 150 obras da arte grega e romana, "Afrodite e os Deuses do Amor", recebeu peças espetaculares emprestadas de Roma e Nápoles, revelando a deusa mais antiga e popular em seus papéis de sedutora e adúltera, instigadora do desejo sexual, de mãe para o travesso Eros, os sexualmente atípicos Hermafrodita e Priapos, padroeira das noivas, e muito mais.
