Padrões globais: Vestuário e Têxteis na África (Boston 2011)

"A exposição destaca continuidades, inovações e troca de idéias de dentro e de fora que caracterizam a produção têxtil e vestuário na África.

The exhibition highlights continuities, innovation, and the exchange of ideas from within and without that characterize dress and textile production in Africa.

Parte da exposição foca apenas algumas tradições: a resistência do índigo tingido "adirês" panos da Nigéria, primorosos tecidos "kente" panos de Gana, e traje de contas dos povos iorubás da Nigéria e os povos Xhosa e Ndebele da África do Sul .

Part of the exhibit focuses on just a few traditions: indigo resist dyed “adire” cloths from Nigeria, intricately strip-woven “kente” cloths from Ghana, and beaded attire of the Yoruba peoples in Nigeria and the Xhosa and Ndebele peoples in South Africa.
